46th Conference of the International Deep Drawing Research Group - IDDRG 2027

May, 31th – June, 3rd, 2027
World Trade Center | Barcelona (Spain)

Eurecat, Catalonia’s leading Technology Center, proudly organizes the IDDRG Conference in the region for the very first time—an internationally renowned event dedicated to showcasing the latest breakthroughs in sheet metal forming and related technologies. This unique gathering offers a dynamic platform for leading researchers, scientists, and industry professionals to connect, share insights, and explore cutting-edge innovations.

Aligned with the mission of the International Deep Drawing Research Group (IDDRG), the conference fosters collaboration between academia and industry, bringing together experts from around the world to advance research and development in sheet metal forming. It also provides a highly respected scientific forum to present and discuss new findings across all related fields.

Following the long-standing IDDRG tradition, the program combines high-quality technical presentations with interactive discussions, encouraging the exchange of ideas and inspiring new approaches within the community.

The official language of the conference is English.

ORGANIZED BY

Eurecat has developed strong expertise in sheet metal forming technologies, with a particular focus on advanced high-strength steels (AHSS), press hardening, and high-strength Al alloys for lightweight applications. The centre supports the automotive and transport industries in addressing the challenges associated with lightweight design, balancing manufacturability, crashworthiness, fatigue resistance, and structural reliability.
A major area of expertise is the development of advanced methodologies for formability assessment. Eurecat has conducted extensive research on edge cracking, stretch-flanging performance, and fracture mechanisms in high-strength sheet materials, combining conventional formability approaches with fracture mechanics. The centre is internationally recognized for pioneering the application of the Essential Work of Fracture (EWF) methodology to thin metallic sheets, demonstrating its relevance for evaluating edge cracking resistance, crash performance, fatigue durability, and hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility.
Eurecat combines advanced laboratory testing with pilot-scale manufacturing capabilities, enabling the validation and industrial implementation of new materials and forming technologies under representative production conditions. This integrated approach covers the entire value chain, from material characterization to process optimization and component validation, with particular attention to tooling performance, tribology, friction control, and surface engineering, ensuring robust and efficient industrial manufacturing solutions.
